Reading, Berkshire is basically halfway between London and Oxford.

J'ai continué à faire du badmington à Paris.

Here, Oxford when I returned in April 2013 for the wedding of my friend Paul Cooper, a great press photographer.

Near Lechlale, where I took this incredible panoramic of a storm.

I painted on my slides. Here, a landscape in Udine, Italy.

What physics is, by Christian Fournier, in simple, visual terms.
Picture the well-known experiment : a spring hung from a support. You add weights onto the bottom of the spring and you measure its length.
You draw a graph with the extension in cm along the x-axis and the weight T in kg on the y-axis.
You take a lot of measurements and realize that the points create a straight line.
The extension is proportional to the weight. We can write its equation: T = K x where T is the total force of the mass applied to the spring, and k : the spring constant representing the stiffness of the spring and x its extension.
It is a linear equation (not a square or anything else like that).
We can calculate K, the stiffness constant of the spring. Each spring has its own K.
That’s all well and good, but ...
That means that if I give you a spring and I tell you that its stiffness constant is 13, then you can figure out, without any experiment necessary, that if you put a 1.45kg weight on the end of the spring it will extend by x = T/k = 1.45 / 13 = 0.11cm
This type of extrapolation helps in physics, among other things.
I hope this motivates you to learn more.

Ah !

Ah! If only I knew how to play guitar How happy I would be
How much I adore the warm sound of a well-tuned guitar
I could sing too. It wouldn’t ruin anything. I sing so well. I so love to sing.
I could sing my poems to my girlfriend. I could play with friends in a band.
And I wouldn’t be stupid. And I would be happy.
But alas, I can never get my bloody fingers on the right godforsaken strings.)

Picasso, femme qui pleure. Magnificent.

November 1976 Raphaël Christian Fournier 133 London Road, Reading, Bershire.
Dear Claude
I just got your letter, I’m touched. I agree with your girlfriend: freedom is important but love… ah…
Happiness doesn’t exist in an ideal, stable state, it is a constant struggle with the smile. I’ll autograph that one for you, Raphaël Christian FOURNIER.
Right now I am quite alone, so I profess my philosophical reflections to my hat. The hat listens wisely, not you. I am always studying many things, going from one end of town to the other, from one school to another, on my bicycle. I’m happy to keep learning new things. I’m an intellectual, you see, but not a good-for-nothing, no Sir.
I have some tricky financial problems, and my artistic creations suffer from it. Photography isn’t cheap. A shame that I lose so much of my life to earn a living. I think about Boris Vian, his misery, his solitude and his love of life. Although that guy was a real genius and he knew it, the lucky bastard!
Thankfully I am tenacious. It’s not the end of the world, even if it’s the end of a full stomach for a while.
I’ve started to have it up to here with the British economy. You’ve got to remain respectful, but to be honest I was thinking of a change of scenery.
I haven’t found a moment’s peace. Reids, the photo company where I was working in April, May, June, and July, are throwing a wrench into everything because I left them without a valid reason. What about my freedom? Freedom. I tell them to piss off.
Doesn’t change the fact that I’ve had no luck finding a job.
For your sentimental problems, I sympathize, but I think you’re relationships are too complex, like your power relations. At least, that’s what I get by reading your letter, even reading in between the lines, which is easy because you write so big.
Maybe that’s just my impression. Is it?
Well if you still get hard, that’s the most important, so nothing is lost.
Formula for nobly born souls : CAPES + Maîtrise “with one broken leg. I’ll let the students try this one at home themselves. Use the theorem of experience and the axiom of life.” Corollary : as long as you have your health, you have hope
Another thing: you don’t need to write my happy letters, I can tickle myself.
Another thing 2: I don’t know what you mean by “chiot”, other than “puppy”, and none of my English-Italian, English-Norwegian or English-Glo know either.
I’m counting on your cooking, mine is horrible : English.
I have some beautiful photos for you. I am very happy to have a friend over there in Bapaume, especially one that isn’t too stupid. Your letter was great.
Ciao. RChF.

One definition of a professional photographer: a “pro” doesn’t show his bad photos.

Buying a camera doesn’t make you a photographer. It makes you the owner of a camera.

A hand changes everything!

Some of my favourite movies of this era.

Some LPs of my youth.

Here are about 620 examples of my photographic event coverage since 1984, that is to say, 30 years. This is without counting those which my clients have requested that I do not show and photos that have been lost.

I know it's enormous.
No, I am not a photographic robot: my mother had me tested

This list begins with the compilations: Fashion & Models, Lingerie, Beauty, Makeup & Hair, Portraits, Events, Objects, Archi & Deco, Industry, Press, Celebrities, etc.

The sensors and web capabilities from 1995 to 2005 were horrible compared to now (2021). 40 KB max by images. My uploads at this time were therefore bad. I replace them little by little. It's long. Thank you for your indulgence.

Conclusion 1: I must not be bad, so that all these people trust me.
I have loyal customers, a sign that they are satisfied with my services. Examples: Tollens, MEDEF, Dior, GMF, Unesco, L'oréal, Anaé, Agefiph, Essilor, Genzyme, Embassy Ireland, The Advertisers Club, Garmin, VW, etc. ...

Conclusion 2: Thanks to all these varied clients (industry, wedding, corporate and personal portraits, press, events, objects, medical, culinary, diving, sports, pageants, etc. ..), I see extraordinary slices of life, confidential or public, trades and fabulous countries. I do feel very privileged. Real life, live. Thank you customers.

In rough estimation, I take 5,000 photos a week. 5,000 x 52 = 260,000 a year. For 35 years = 9,100,000 photos. Well, I would like to reach 10 million anyway!

Conclusion 3: Photography is my language

There is also a search command, not always up to date, but pretty comprehensive on all my reportages.

MY BLOGS

Not many photographers have the courage to show their photos on a daily basis. I do it to show that in a wide range of photography, I always take good photos for my clients. Technical perfection and an obvious sensitivity. If you imagine the logistic necessary for these missions (estimates, preparations, equipment, transports in traffic jams, safety, etc.), you can see that I am a photographer who achieves results in all circumstances.
